Predictions for God of War 5
SPOILER WARNING!
From the hints we got throughout GOW4 we know that the next game is going to take place in Fimbulwinter. A period in Norse mythology that lasts about 3 years. It is a period of extreme, blistering cold where the 9 realms will be attacked by Fenris and his legions of fimbulwolves (basically the Norse version of werewolves). The secret ending says that the events between GOW4 & 5 take place over the course of "several years later" and then appears Thor at what seems the end of Fimbulwinter. After fimbulwinter comes ragnarok with the rise of the lava giants and the annihilation of the 9 realms by inferno. I predict Freya, Hela, and the Vanir gods in general will be major bosses in GOW5. There certainly will be time travel involved if you listen to Mimir's comments about the world serpent getting Deja Vu when meeting Atreus. Also Kratos & Atreus will somehow come into contact with the gods of Egypt, China, and Albion aka the British Isles before being conquered by Rome. British Isles may feature the Celtic gods which has never been done before on any major franchise. I love how the game developers flipped the theme of God of War upside down. Instead of Kratos going out of his way to get revenge on the gods it is now the gods who are moving heaven & earth (quite literally) to get revenge on Kratos and his family.
If the prophecy left behind by Laufaye and the giants is accurate it means Thor's hammer won't become a playable weapon sadly. I think Atreus may take over as the main protagonist after whatever happens to Kratos happens. Though it will be awkward as anyone who's played the game knows Atreus isn't who we thought he was. It is a little weird that the Aesir gods are left as such a mystery throughout the GOW4 game. Odin & Thor deserve their own dramatic introductions. I don't want them to be introduced so last minute the way some of the gods were introduced in GOW3. I think the developers still pulled off a classic game but in my opinion I thought it could've been done better. There's still the question about what happened to Artemis from GOW1 and why she didn't appear in GOW3? Would be interesting to see her become a boss in GOW5 as she was the goddess of hunting from Greek myth and slayer of several titans.
Does anyone else have any better predictions? There's quite a few ways the GOW5 game can go once time travel is fully fleshed out. And i'd like to add that the Thor of Marvel comics is actually really OP compared to the original Thor from Norse mythos. In the original Thor was one of the few gods who could not use the bifrost to travel the realms because the weight of Mjolnir made him too heavy for the rainbow bridge to hold together. The only way Thor could get to Midgard was by crossing the gateways of Jotunheim made by the giants. This of course meant Thor had to slay a bunch of giants who guarded the gates before he could ever get to Midgard from Asgard.
