Personally i don't believe in hell therefore there is no hell. Those who believe in hell may create experiences that appear to be hellish. But such a hell would be an illusion. It may appear to exist for people who believe in it but hell is not real.

Yes, your thoughts become your reality...

To me, this thread is mainly about Judaism and not really about Christianity.

So why are we discussing what appears to be, how bad the Jewish deities are?

Does that open 'the door' to talk 'bad' about other deities?
Just wondering?

Who would be the deities of the new testament? I was thinking Jesus of course as Christianity says Jesus is God. But then did Jesus say or believe he was God?

Luke 18:19
New International Version
19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.

In that passage Jesus seems to be saying he is not God. Did God have a name in the new testament? I know he was referred to as "the Father."

The trinity maybe?

Exactly the same as the Patriarchs....

"But this ONE God is still the God of the patriarchs" (Matt. 22:32).

When you read God in the Old Testament, In Hebrew, the word used is pronounced something like Elohim. Elohim resonates with "I AM" and if you delve in to that Hebrew word, it seems everything is Elohim.

When you read Lord in the old Testament, that word was something like Yahweh.

I believe Elohim and Yahweh are the most common names mentioned in the Hebrew Bible but when translated into English, are rarely used. The New Jerusalem Bible, which is a Catholic Bible, used Yahweh but not Elohim.

The Revised New Jerusalem Bible uses the word "LORD" in small capitals.
This to conform with instructions from the Congregation for Divine Worship....

I did not mention the Revised New Jerusalem Bible.

I mentioned the New Jerusalem Bible.

Wikipedia has an article on that Bible and one of the points it mentions is:

"Like the Jerusalem Bible, the New Jerusalem Bible makes the uncommon decision to render God's name, the Tetragrammaton in the Jewish scriptures, as Yahweh rather than as "Lord", in 6,823 places in the NJB Old Testament."

As for the Revised New Jerusalem Bible, Wikipedia makes this comment:

"Whereas The New Jerusalem Bible and its predecessor The Jerusalem Bible featured the use of "Yahweh" some 6800+ times to render the Tetragrammaton, The Revised New Jerusalem Bible uses the word "LORD" in small capitals."

If you look in a Hebrew Bible, you will see the Hebrew words for Elohim and Yahweh being used a lot of times.

I personally feel that the Hebrew Bible supersedes The Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.
