"Dreaming about someone means they're thinking of you"
There's the time-old belief that if you dream about someone, they fell asleep thinking of you. Has anyone analyzed this theory in a metaphysical sense? Would it be possible if it had something to do with vibrational frequencies, telepathy between two especially connected souls, etc.?

From my perspective, I consider the many ways that a person can exert an influence on your dreams. They can symbolize part of yourself that you interacted with during the day. They can stand for themselves, perhaps after a period of interacting with them while awake. You may have a long association with a person, with all those memories and feelings exerting an influence on your dreams.
Compared to all that, it would seem that the phenomenon you are discussing would exert only a small influence.
