I was born and raised Christian, so I have background

What Jesus taught is a great philosophy and way of living. I have no problem with it, and actually quite like it, and I like Jesus. In fact I see a lot of the Bhagavad Gita in Jesus's words. I think he was influenced by it and other eastern philosophy, though there are differences, mainly in theology, cosmology and soteriology.

What I detest about Christianity is the way it's been added to, subtracted from, stretched, twisted and generally corrupted from its origins. Paul is the biggest offender. I detest the hypocrisy of too many who call themselves Christians but are the furthest thing from it. They are no different than the Pharisees Jesus railed against.

Whether Gandhi said it or not (no evidence he actually did say it), it remains a true statement, and the basis for my dislike of Christianity: "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ".

You might want to read more of Paul'a writings.....

It was Paul's influence that got the Jewish sect to depart from Judaism and become Christianity.

No, I've read enough of Paul. Maybe that was his error, that he completely departed from Jesus, and put words in Jesus's mouth. Christianity/Paulism should never have arisen, it should have stayed Jesuism.

Jesus was born a Jew and died a Jew.

If you think Paul was 'bad', can you imagine what Christianity would be like if it remained in Judaism?

Sure, a lot of people dislike Paul but it was his activities that started to give 'more rights' to people especially women.

I know, right? Yes, I believe it was him.
I like that... Jesusism.
(Oh, how I love the Gita.)

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

If anyone wants to see the original Jesus, check the Odes of Solomon. Its Jewish but of a reformist kind, and shows where Paul got it from.. you might be sort of right

The worst religion?

If a person is able to judge, they should throw the first stone.

Not the worst religion. I think the issue is we don't live Christ-like. We have forgotten over the decades.

Well stated. If Christianity seems to align with Eastern thought it's because Jesus told the Truth, apart from ego. That's the thing.
The new testament in general is a turn towards Eastern direction, and thought.

So, can ego be equated with evil, and the devil?

Matthew 16:22-24

Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. “Far be it from You, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to You!” But Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me. For you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.” Then Jesus told His disciples, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me..
