only the lessons are stone, the path to get there and experience them are not. though we can see parts of the future, it is still up to you. We can hand you a map, but you have to climb the mountain for it to happen. :)

I believe linear time is an illusion created to allow us to give meaning to our life experiences. Therefore it is entirely possible for some to see or be told the future by their guides without interfering with free will.

I agree with paladin about time being an illusion
About the free will thing? you can choose to see whatever life you want to see, your thoughts shape reality so the only way to change your reality is by your thoughts. If I have the power to choose my thoughts, and therefore my 'reality' to me that is free will
