Why are the saints allways suffering?

Some great souls come on earth with dissabilties. Like Saints in the Christian or hindu traditions. It is like doing tapas (austerities). They take karma from other people with their sufferings. Some spiritual masters take all of one go like Jesus healing people during three years and suffering during one day until the cross.
Others masters take the karma of people and suffer for this every time they do it. I saw it many times bySwami Vishwananda after he gave Darshan.

Without suffering there would be no compassion.

I wish I knew. The truth is no one really knows. I do find it interesting that Beethoven, for example, was deaf, compromising his ability to play piano yet leading to more amazing achievements. Not saying he's a saint, but it's perhaps similar in concept. It reminds me of the oyster and the pearl - the worse we suffer, the more beauty is created. Maybe it's something like that.

Many people in the world have suffering of various kinds, and saints are no exception.

The difference in a saint, perhaps, is they don't complain or get depressed about it (or perhaps they did and went beyond it) but use the opportunty to strengthen them in their spiritual knowing and giving.

Sri Vasudeva once said "Saints suffer, masters endure." I've never forgotten that.
