Native American Healing

Does anyone know anything about Native American healing? I can't find much on Google about it.

Most First Nations people relied on herbs, magic and spirituality for healing. Try Googling "native american medicine" and you'll be clicking and reading for a goodly while.

Hi Songbirds,

For Iroquois see link about False Faces. And look up turtle rattle.

I don't think there is just one healing practice. First peoples are spread all over the world. All would have used nature and Spirit in some combination, according to their own traditions.

I remember reading how early humans would follow creatures around to know their ways. For example, bear is often associated with healing powers because bears tend to know what plants to eat or avoid when they're sick. And anthopologists looked at rituals where people would try to channel the knowledge and energy of those animals by wearing costumes of the animal and going into trance.

When you think about it, how many thousands of years of knowledge has been lost......how valuable it would be today to recover some of this lost knowledge. There's probably a medicine chest (maybe a cure for cancer) right in our very own backyards.

Good luck in your research,

Uma

That's why I found it kinda hard to find something on google, because I couldn't find much precisely targeted to native America. There was some stuff on there though :)

And I know, I read something that there is the cure to cancer and god knows what else in the Amazon, and there's us chopping the likes of it down like there's no tomorrow.

I googled Native American Shaman Healing since the Shaman would have been the one they went to for anything.

Dance, and I use drums and turtle rattles. I also think that healing American American wise means being out more in nature.

The term "medicine" for First Nations people has a much broader definition than the modern (mostly white) one. It goes far beyond prescribing a tea, or poultice - a pill or a vaccination. It is a way of living.

Some more ideas:

There is little on Google since I would suspect much of this is sacred and secret.

In Canada post-secondary institutions now offer all kinds of courses integrating modern/mainstream/western healing with traditional Aboriginal healing. Check with your colleges/universities...talk to the professors...

Depending how deeply you want to research this, you could contact a reservation or an agency that works with them and try to meet a modern day healer who uses traditional ways.

Yes, the natives are quite protective over what they know. Google has the basics, like medicine wheels etc. but nothing about hands on spiritual healing.

I was told I was a native American sage in my past life, with healing abilities that stem primarily from that lifetime. I'm trying to research it but I really don't know what I'm looking for tbh as you said, much of it is sacred and i doubt the sages around now share their stuff with whoever they please.

But thank you, I'll try and get in touch with some people, maybe they will know more than google aye

If you were a native american in your past life can you connect with your "invisible" DNA or ask your spirit guides to guide you to Native American healing and how to find out information about it.
Spiritlite.
