Knight: It is naive and ridiculous to say suffering is nothing to do with the spiritual aspect of life. On the contrary it has everything to do with it.
In my view, everything has to do with our spiritual nature as that is the essence and foundation of our existence.

Surrender ... accept this moment as it is.
Most of your suffering is self-created.
Suffering is most people's only spiritual teacher.
Your thoughts make you suffer more than anything else.

thank you for sharing that Xan, it's always refreshing to hear reminders from Tolle..
suffering.. well, I don't think any of us would have turned to looking at things more deeply if we hadn't suffered in life.. I think what starts us looking for spiritual answers is the fact that we saw the suffering that is so pervasive in the world

That's your opinion, and you are welcome to it.. my own search for 'deeper meaning' began without suffering, it began when i couldn't reconcile what religions taught with what religions actually did.. when the inconsistencies and contradictions in the religious texts were explained as 'tests of faith', or 'just have faith'.. no suffering, i was simply interested a more complete and consistent answer..
Be well..

that's fine, tzu
I, too, found many logical problems in religion, being raised as a Christian, the questioning of my beliefs started at a very young age
