As for obsession with death.. It might be that you're starting to identify with all the negativity in you as it comes to the surface clears out. This can help release it if you let it flow and not cling onto it. Also as you said, with this happening the ego is expanding and that can cause fear in itself. So you maybe have a double dose of fear.
If you're uncomfortable with this feeling of being obsessed with death then you should cut back a little or find another way to release it. Have you tried hatha yoga? It clears energy out directly rather than mentally. This might be easier for your mind.
Have I accepted this fear? Yes. I have fear, make no mistake, but I've accepted it and my fear of death has fallen noticeably these past couple of months. Remember, often what we fear is actually fear itself. Once you stop fearing your fear then you have nothing to fear, even if you do still feel fear as a result of years of mental programming Hope that was helpful.

I will try Hatha yoga thanks. I have been looking for a type of yoga that helps clear out energy. Also, I have become very accepting of death. I would recommend to anyone here reading the book - Courage by Osho. This is what opened my eyes to life and death. Thank you!

This is probably true for most but regardless of beliefs it comes down to acceptance at the end of the day. My beliefs and experiences show me that there is life and love after death but yet I am always aware of the possibility that there is nothing. And I'm okay with that. I accept that one day I may not exist.

Any yoga will do the trick (there's lots of different types), but hatha is grounding which will help a lot. Some simple meditation will go a long way too, if you're not already trying that. When you meditate fear comes up and if you watch it, it will release and pass.
I love Osho's quotes, they really are quite amazing. I didn't know he wrote books though so thanks for that, I will check it out

This is a very important thread, and its good to hear so many views. I have mused over the question of death so often that it has become a major interest of mine ( no, that's not morbid, and its not meant to be !! ).
I have studied Spirituaism extensively for many years, and have found it has a lot to offer. I am particularly interested in the concept of the Near Death Experience. On the face of it the evidence for survival is pretty strong.
Do I still worry about it ??. Yep, but then I am only human. One thing about getting a bit older though is the ability ( in me at least ) to accept it a little more....Considering the state of this physical world the thought of our eventual physical death ( no matter what you believe ) is not so worrying after all.

I don't fear being dead. I fear the pain and suffering of the process of death. I'm actually looking forward to seeing what being 'dead' is like.

I think that in order to fully 'awaken' and become 'enlightened' then this fear is something which needs to be overcome. How can anyone claim to be 'spiritual' but then at the same time be afraid of something which is 50% of existence and the universe. Everything dies. We must come to peace with this!

That's true. Part of enlightenment is the releasing of all fears. Part of being spiritual is aiming for enlightenment

Every day that we draw breath, and see the sun set and rise again, we come to terms with death, as a part of life. We live with the fear each day ... possibly due to an innate desire to preserve life ... that must be greater than the fear of death, otherwise, we would all be dead already, and not live to tell the story of the fear we experience, so to speak ... on some level, love of life overrides fear of death ...

i'm 4 years shy of 70. i have found that younger people have more of a fear of death than us 'mature' ones. :)

I am not afraid of my body dying. The thing I am sure I won't like is if I am ill and in pain for a while before passing on.
However, the way I look at it now, I shall feel a certain nostalgia for the Earth, this lovely planet, the natural world....the greenness, the smells of Earth, the food, the nights and days.... I live in. I really do love it very much. I'm sure I'll adjust very happily to the 'other side' and may find I don't miss Earth one bit. But right now, if I think of leaving I know I would miss it.
