Contacting my spirit guide help. :-)

Hi there! :-)

I'm new, but spent quite some time reading through the forums last night. I used to be very spiritual in my teens and early 20's and lost touch for many years, until I had a very brief encounter with a medium.

One thing I noticed, and wanted to ask about... I've noticed that most of the posts I've read, no one has mentioned a deceased relative who passed before your birth as a guide. Is that uncommon?

I went to a party a few weeks ago, and one of the other guests is a medium. I didn't know she was a medium at the time, until she told me my spirit guide was with me. She told me it was my grandmother (who passed when my mom was 12, 20 some years before I was born). I was skeptical until she said that her symbol for me is roses. (My grandmothers name is Rose).

That was the extent of our conversation. I didn't want to be rude and suck her into a reading when she was there to attend a party. LOL

I wasn't surprised that my guide was my grandmother. I'm named after her and always felt a connection. Mostly because I look like her!

But anyway, my question... Ever since that party my spiritual interests and beliefs have rekindled and I've been interested in making contact with my guide, and just can't!

I'm a believer, I feel open to the connection... But I just don't know how. I'm working on meditation. I'm asking her to come to me in dreams. Am I trying too hard?

If anyone has any advice or resources they could point me toward, I'd be most appreciative.

I've mentioned this on a few other posts, but I've found that timing plays a huge role when it comes to connecting with guide energies. Some people would disagree, and there are obviously going to be a few exceptions, but most of the time, guide energies seem to have a specific moment they feel is a good time to connect.

With that in mind, though, it's still worth your time to try... but start simply. Think about what your strongest sense is (clairvoyance, clairaudience, etc.) and then ask your guide to join you and give you a detail based on that strongest sense, like a color, a sound, or a smell. Then, once you have that detail (and don't worry about it being "right" - there's no right or wrong here), spend some time each day focusing on it or just spending some time with it... keeping in mind that your connection is growing stronger. See if any other details or information come through.

My strongest sense is clairsentience. I am an empath but I have trouble deciphering other people's emotions from my own.
