Humans gold miners
Read this article about the Annunaki, long story short their primary goal was to create Humans to use them as gold miners. Why would they do that when they could mine for gold with their mind or just create gold with their mind? Furthermore, they were advanced tech so they could have created something else, like robots?

That story is an interpretation of something that was perceived, it isn't what there was.

I have to say it and hate to say it, but all of these theories and conspiracies tend to read somewhat like a poorly scripted sci-fi novel.
It is astounding the lengths that the human imagination will go to try and explain our past and reason for being. In no way am I saying this is untrue, all that I am saying is that it makes for a good story - albeit a highly implausible one, but what the heck would I know?
Do I believe in Aliens? Yes! Do I believe they influenced the development of our "primitive" ancestors? Yes! Do I believe they manipulated our DNA to turn us from apes into a race of slaves to mine monatomic gold so as to repair the damaged atmosphere of their dying homeworld planet? No!

I often wonder why we have so much 'spiritual' potential and actualise so little of it, it always makes me wonder if we were genetically modified and given a bit of 'their' DNA, which we don't know how to use or activate yet.
Why not this story, us being made as a workforce for some advanced race, it would explain quite a lot I think. Scientists still can't figure out why there were cultural leaps 40 000 years ago. From wiki -

It is possible to have had some physical or non-physical entities' crucial intervention into apes' evolution, without the negative connotation that they did that to create a slave species. They could've done that with the positive intention of creating / expediting the evolution of a higher intelligence species, a better vehicle for a more evolved consciousness than animals carry.
