What do you eat during intense meditation?
I'm in a meditative state all day everyday, the more I keep up the more layers I break and keep changing the way I behave and react. Lately I've been needing less and less. It's like when people are depressed and don't want to eat. Except I'm in zen. Eating reduces zen drastically.
So what's your experience with food and meditation?

balance is important. to meditate to that extent seems counterproductive. why do you do it that much.

The middle way is not to starve. There may be a lessening of appetite but not starvation. Also, you can eat mindfully and reflect deeply on all the chains and processes that have brought the food to your plate. You are part of the earth and eat of it - interbeing.

Eating before you meditate can cause some issues.
It is advised to not eat up to an hour before your meditation sit.

Bland...as I was told by a yogi in the 70s...nothing that would
make you come out of meditation bec of indigestion or a burp...
making you aware of the body.
He said no onions, garlic, peppers, mushrooms...maybe they didn't agree with him.
We were vegetarian, so that wasn't mentioned.
I would say beans, cabbage, brussel sprouts or highly spiced food!
For group meditation, I am very aware to eat mild foods the full day before! Ha!

I can see how reducing food would allow for allow for a more profound experience. Perhaps some day when my day in now filled with responsibilities I will give it a try.

Hello again.
I practice formal meditation sitting minimum 2 hours a day, and I retain a continual mindfulness as best as I can throughout the day.
If I enter a serious mode of practice I retreat from all business and distraction and meditate continually.
In my day to day life I eat only natural food with no additives (except for a tiny bit) and only eat meat on some odd occasions.
When seriously meditating, I have breakfast and lunch as usual, but I only eat a small snack in the evening, and no meat whatsoever.
Best to wake and meditate immediately... then have breakfast... and also in the evening, before the evening meal. I always meditate straight away when I wake, and immediately upon arriving home.
At lunch hour I meditate straight after eating, because I only have an hour for lunch, but I only eat a salad wrap so it's not at all heavy.
PS: No alcohol or other intoxicants.

What Miss Hepburn said. Just keep it light and make sure it doesn't cause a tummy ache. So, basically anything that doesn't make you feel heavy. No meat I would say, or carbs. Sunsoul also has a point, eating consciously can become a (different) kind of meditation in itself. :)
