A Little Left Handed

I have gone through a long phase of being on the left-hand path (Eastern left-hand, or "Vamachara", using drugs and eclecticism to propel me forward), and I am now purifying myself. I do not regret going down the path I did. I feel it has advanced me years in terms of understanding my energy field and the gates and channels that are on, in, and run through the body, although it left me at a low energy state. I feel my energy at all times, but am prone to negative thoughts and emotions (this is changing rapidly). What I really wanted to bring up here is the question of the best way to approach purification. I am finding that instilling positive energy from the head down seems to be the best way because it clears the head and helps keep one focused on this task. At one point I thought it would be best to focus on the heart first, but I would forget to stay on the path. It seems like focusing on an area like this pushes negative energy into other spots in the energy field, and that is why it is good to work from the head down. I also want to add that I do a lot of general positive energy gathering throughout my entire field.
