Cat

Hello. It doesn't have to mean "bad luck." It can mean whatever you choose it to mean for you. In ancient China, the black cat was a symbol of good luck.

A cat that is black on top and white underneath that crosses one's path may generally mean that there is always goodness, there is always a blessing (symbolized by the color white) that can be found and seen "beneath" every "bad experience." It also is a sign that you are perhaps seeing some things in life as too "black and white," or as either "good" or "bad," instead of neutral, for life is not really "black-and-white" in the manner that most people still have a tendency to believe it is. Basically, seeing a black and white cat cross one's path is a spiritual reminder that "You get to choose to perceive a thing as positive or negative." Make any sense to you?

But most important is what you FEEL it means for YOU, my friend, instead of someone else's interpretation. You get to choose. You do not have to accept the silly superstitious interpretations of other people. Be original. YOU get to decide. Blessings, and a warm welcome to Spiritual Forums.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

The legend says black and it doesn't mention white, so you should be OK.

We can read things into animal appearances, such a seeing a deer in a clearing or a woodpecker up in a tree. But yes, the whole black cat thing is nothing more than superstition born medieval consciousness: when darkness was looked upon as evil, and when people of dark-skinned races were seen as inferior and treated as savages. That's why I personally never use expressions that give the impression that "white and light" are more pure and more spiritual than "black and dark": the "White Brotherhood" for example (which is also terribly sexist BTW).

I love that "it's going somewhere'

I'd like to know what cats are thinking when they look at us the same way as when we're idiots and when we're serious and if the whole system of meows is actually 100 ways of saying 'it's time for dinner"
