Tarot cards - Book meaning or gut instinct?

I took a 6 week class and absorbed the information but never looked at my notes again. I find that sometimes the messages come intuitively, clairvoyantly and in ways that don't pertain to the traditional meaning of the card. You will be nudged in the direction on where to retrieve this information from your mind. I think of it as cataloging information in your brain for later use.

There's been times where I intend to use a specific spread but the cards fall in a way that speak more to me clairvoyantly than what makes sense in the traditional spread.

I say learn as much as you can and then forget about it, the information will come to you when you are on the spot :)

I have bought a book with the meaning of the cards, but I also trust on my gutfeeling when I work with the cards. In my book every card is described very
extensive with the gemstone which belongs to the card, the bach remedy, the signs of the zodiac etc.

I use the book but also try to use my intuition my gut feeling as well.
