I would add that if you think it would be possible to not only forgive but also have compassion for the people you feel hurt by (in the sense that you actively wish them to find wisdom, love and happiness), this would help. It can be hard to do because you may want to remove yourself from them (and depending on the circumstances this could even be the best thing to do right now). Thich Nhat Hanh has a lot to say on the topic of compassion.
