Didn't the Holy Spirit descend upon the Disciples whilst Jesus was still alive?

Still alive?

According to Orthodox Christianity, Jesus is still alive now.

You mean before He had been crucified and died?

No, the Bible tells us that Jesus ascended into Heaven 40 days after He had Risen, and then 10 days after that the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples.

I see... And how many of those Apostles were able to master life and death and resurrect themselves before they ascended or did they just ascend without dying?

As well as you want it to work out, there are only a few that will ever Realize this.

hmmm....never thought of it that way and yes it sure would....the word parusia is used in the bible concerning the holy ghost and it means active presence. so maybe one is responsible for awakening to the presence of the holy ghost that IS around them.

No one besides the Lord has the power of resurrection, so any mere human who is resurrected is said to be resurrected by God. The only human who was said to be resurrected by their own power was Jesus (yes, the Bible says this), which clearly implies the view that He was God. So to ask who else resurrected themselves is totally outside the Christian Tradition. Anyone else who was understood to have been resurrected was said to have been resurrected by an other.

There is a longstanding tradition that Mary, His Mother, was resurrected three days after she was buried.

There is also a tradition that John, at the end of the 1st century, requested to be buried alive, and once someone tried to dig him up, his body had disappeared.

So many traditions of men, this is exactly what we have to go beyond, beyond the traditions and myth to the truth within and only within.
