I think that when you intend to focus on something, the mind does wander away, and suddenly you realise, like, oops mind has wandered off, but to realise that also means the intended focus also been remembered, so this is happening automatically rather than autonomously.

Take it easy. I have been interested on meditation and mantras for a 3 years now. I can probably maditate 20minutes maxium :) It takes time, sometimes learn focuse faster than others. Also remember, that if you dont "feel" anything while meditation, it doesnt mean that your meditation is done for nothing. I used to think too, that when I dont feel anything while meditating - im doing something wrong and it doesnt benefit me. If you are aiming for "feelings" and "supernatural" experiences with meditation, you are doing meditation for wrong reasons.... usually meditation like this will harm you more than it benefits :)

You're right about that you don't necessarily feel anything during meditation. I don't meditate by sitting, but just bits during the day, but from others I've heard that the real positive thing comes when they're not meditating, that they are more clear-minded the rest of the time, and more relaxed.
