Reiki courses - how long for?
Hi guys,
just wondering how long your Reiki courses have been in getting your Level 1?
I am in Australia and I have noticed some Reiki courses in my area for Level 1 and they are only offering 1-2 day courses, but it sounds like some of you have done some serious Reiki work with your master prior to your attunement and I gather that you only become Level 1 after your attunement - would that be right?
Or is it more realistic to think that you need to work with this person prior to the 1-2 day course to gain full benefit?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The length of the course will depend on the reiki master. My level 1 was for 1 day. The attunement happened on the day and we did some practice. There was theory and reiki history as well. After that my master gave us home work and we then took as long as we needed to complete it. After the attunement we spent 21 days working on ourselves.
There is no rush with reiki and you don't need to work with the reiki master prior to the course. You should pick your reiki master carefully though - have some reiki with them and see how you get along.

The reason that it is a two day course is generally the RM will explain the history of Reiki on the first day and do attunements. If it is a large class, passing attunements to people can take quite a while. Then there may not be time on the first day for students to practice and the 2nd day is usually for practice.
My Reiki I class was only 1 day. The RM had a helper to pass attunements, and the class was only about 4-5 hours.
A second day for questions and practice might have been nice.

This is how mine was as well. I also was told to wait 6 months between attunements and... if I was to become a master, I must also understand that that 3rd degree required me to teach and pass on the attunement process.
This is why I've not gone and done my master because I don't feel I can devote enough time to attuning others and the responsibility that title holds.

Ok - thanks very much for that guys. I'd thought from the way you spoke about your masters that you spent a lot of time with them prior to your attunements - I will definately really consider the 2 day courses and will definately have reiki with that person prior to make sure I want them to be my master.
thanks so much!!!!
