Attuned to Reiki?

Well I had a reading from a member of this forum before the site went down. I was told that I was attuned to Reiki but I don't have a clue about what Reiki is or how to practice it. Any help with what was meant by this or how to come about discovering how attuned I am, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Reiki is a healing therapy which balances energy in mind, body and soul. Some people hold that to become a reiki healer, you have to be attuned to it by a master/teacher. Others hold that you can attune yourself by simply being ready for the healing energy, but that you also need the teaching of a master/teacher to help you understand and use it. Reiki is a healing system you can learn distantly or one to one. Have a look around your local area and go speak to a reiki teacher or two.

Reiki is generally defined as 'universal life force.' It is a spiritual healing energy.

Typically one is attuned by a Reiki Master Teacher to allow the recipient to channel the Reiki energy.

I have participated in Reiki shares in which some of the participants were not formally attuned yet still channeled the energy, so attunement is not always absolutely required. However, I highly recommend talking with a local Reiki Master Teacher if you're so inclined.

I highly recommend "Essential Reiki" by Diane Stein. It covers the history, hand positions, practical applications, symbols and what they mean.

Greetings, Dimples24! It is interesting that Reiki would show up in your reading. It could be that the reader sensed you have good strong energy and may have tried to compare it with Reiki. However, if you had Reiki, you would know. You would remember that you had to study for a period of time and then become initiated/attuned to it (In Person) by a certified, qualified Reiki master. If this did not happen then it is quite possible that the reading was in error about you having Reiki but you could have good, personal energy.

Reiki is not learned from books, films, the Internet, etc. To become attuned to it you must be initiated into it by a Reiki master and take the classes that go with the attunement. That is most likely why you don't have a clue about what it is or how to practice it. Had you actually studied it you would most certainly know as Reiki is for life.

If you want to learn Reiki the right way, there are many good Reiki masters, perhaps even in your area that you might wish to check out and learn more about. Sometimes masters advertise in metaphysical bookstores, regular bookstores, local alternative newspapers, through flyers left in buildings, etc. If you find that their classes are something you wish to attend, that would be your personal decision. At any rate, if it is your true calling, may you be blessed with the energy that comes from God, Reiki!

Thanks for all the feedback! I will look into this as I am curious! I was wondering though, could it be from a past life?

Good question! It's entirely possible. The only way to be sure, imho, is to find an experienced reiki teacher and ask them to 'test' you. They should be able to tell whether you are channelling healing energy and talk to you about reiki itself, so you'll know if it resonates with you.
