The thing olive leaves have is self similarity, so always repeat a pattern but never repeat an outcome.

The olive tree is contained in the olive seed, but only as the formula, not as the tree itself, the tree will continiously alter it's form and be effected by the elements external to itself, like wind and rain.

The pattern is a formula of self similarity but never repitition, just as shown by Lorenz in the second post, and the laws of Chaos unfold with a great predictability yet no exaction at all.

Life creates the conditions of it's own existance.

I also like a bit of chaos theory, it's something I've been meaning to come back to when I'm not stretching quite so thin.

One of the key elements I was initially drawn to was the notion of feedback. A system that feeds into itself, a continual refinement. I think you touched on it here;

It appears akin to the notion of 'self-perpetuation' and is demonstrated in some splendor in Mendelbrot sets, as the equation includes a feedback loop.

This is fantastic work Gem

More than that,

It's art.

To see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower, behold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour.

William Blake

If there is no God, what is the system everything adheres to? If.

Georg Cantor, a mathematition of the eighteen hundreds, asked a simple question: How big is infinity?

It might not seem so obvious at first, but that query is the seed of unbounded imagination, but seldom does a man make the journey to into the endlessness, but Cantor, inspired by sheer blind faith that there is a knowing, was one who dared.

Although Cantor broke open the limits of human thinking by laying open a simple truth, his endeavour took it's toll and he died utterly alone a crazed man in a German insane asylum (06/01/18).

He believed the unravelling of this question could take the human mind into greater trancended certainty, but eventually he realized that his answers could only make certainty ever more elusive, and his path destroyed it's own possibility of ever reaching it, for the arrival at one infinity reveals yet another, greater.

People were frightened, and none moreso that Cantor himself, because he made the most alarming discovery that math would destroy the very thing it was supposed to save us from... irresolvable uncertainty, and any pathway could only lead to the final frontier where infinity and chaos were the same.

Cantor came to describe the infinite as an abyss between what he had seen and what he knew must be there... but could never reach. An abyss described by Hesoid in the OP. The void.

"Before the beginning of great brilliance there must be chaos" I Ching

Out of chaos come order ~ Nietzche

It's a broken record, everyone since Hessoid said it, and the Mathemations like Cantor who worked to find underlying order began to see it just wasn't there, and it was also the time where God slowly died, and Nietzsche, on the back of charles darwin's natural selection openly declared 'God Is Dead!

Everything happened accidentally. There is no source, no creator, no God... Only chaos... and the whole world also fell, in fear of inherant chaos, into facisizm, communizm, Nazi-izm and all out war. WWI and WWII.

Meanwhile Gaston Julia was evolving something really spectacular and inherantly beautiful... he found perfect patterning in eternity and infinity, but because computation was so long, no-one could see the Perfection until the 80's when computing was advanced enough to do it. Julia died in '78.

Mans mind was chaos, philosophy was chaos, math was chaos, and bombs rained down near enough continually until the Hiroshima/Nagasaki apocalypse.. followed by the cold war, a chill of silent forbodance... but a new wave was to emerge, The beauty was already seeded.... but would not blossom until the 80's

Too much talk... Here is G. Julias set.

thermonuclear reaction, fusion of two light atomic nuclei into a single heavier nucleus by a collision of the two interacting particles at extremely high temperatures, with the consequent release of a relatively large amount of energy. Chains of thermonuclear reactions, such as the proton-proton cycle and the carbon cycle, account for the energy radiated from the Sun and most other stars. In an uncontrolled state, this type of nuclear reaction is responsible for the destructive force of thermonuclear bombs.
I believe our sun said it best. :)

The atomic principles were fairly well established by Einstein and Bohr, who only had a pencil and paper, as calculators were like crank machines that couldn't even do divisions, so we say the sun is a fission reactor like it's common knowledge, but that is very very recent knowledge, which was also being derived during the same period culminating with the same catclysm, Hiroshima/Nagasaki.

The link between the (math) discovery of abject chaos, evolution, the death of god, the fear of chaos, world wide war, and the working of the sun which destroyed Japan, is one big manifest of the state of human mentality... one picture contains it all... .

with the fractal images created with computers, there was representation of man's deeper understanding that nothing can really be explained but there is some perfect order...

Benior Mandelbrot actually only dressed up Julia Gaston's work and did not invent fractal geometry, but he did bring out the expression and reveal it to the public.

The geometry was very beautiful and awesomely appealing so it spread... even complete novices were deeply impressed with the sheer aesthetic pleasure, and this remarkable beauty sparked something peacefully transforming into the new age.

Mandelbrot Set.

The whole frame of mind shifted, physics wasn't physical anymore, math was no longer a theory for everything, and people entered the 90's with an inner sense that some dramatic shift in this world was underway as intrinsic beauty became mathematically factual and visually apparent, and peace was befalling mankind's heart upon such reflection.

The cold war ended, there was international sharing. The fractals allowed the internet to be made and all men were at eachother's fingertips.

Secrets became impossible (as wikileaks eventually demonstrated), and we all truely lived together for the first time in history as the beauty we proved true opened man's minds and hearts.

Enjoy the journey.
