Question Did God change? From a murderer to a loving Father?

I was told to read 1 Samuel 15...I did...and I would like a discussion to open here on my question...
Can God change? Was he really a murderous God at one time....then
turned into a loving pussy cat later?

Could the Old Testament God not be the God Jesus points to as our Father in Heaven?

Did God have to be so intense in the Old T because that was all they could relate to at that time?
Whassup with all the murdering!?
If you think It is the same God...can you give your views on murdering, then the flip to the loving Heavenly Father I relate to?

I have heard diff things...I'm not bothered by this...I relate only to the loving God that has presented Himself to me personally.
I am in no position to debate any of this!
I will have to be a reader here only.
Thank you.

I also apologize if somewhere this has been brought up...the thread can be merged, if the Mods want to.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

I think it might be helpful to know that the Bible was written over many centuries, by different people with different agendas, living in different times. That’s why you have different views on the God. Sure, we can “fit” things together but we can just as easily show the issues. In the end it’s different authors trying to make sense of it all, but of course also succumbing to human error.

Prof. Bart Ehrman has written about it too. I’ve read one of his books, he’s a good source..

I don't think God has changed Miss H, it's how we see God that's changed. The bible was written over time by ordinary people and sometimes they used God as an excuse for their warmongering etc:
I don't for one moment believe the bible is the word of God but the word of man who like the violent perpetrators of the Inquisition and other atrocities needed an excuse ( God ) to ease their conscience and gather the masses to aid them.
Just my opinion of course

God is Love, but He is also Justice. True Justice is born of True Love. But before He exercises justice, He stretches forth His Hand of mercy.

There is an Angel standing at your left Miss Hepburn and classifies you as a Christian. I think your Angel should be given the interceeders international reward, because He has been interceeding so long for you to return to the narrow path. You read the Holy Bible with your own understanding and your own Wisdom.

Jesus says, "Come to me all you who are burdened and heavy laden", You are heavily burdened with so much spiritual knowledge and have not obtained rest from it. You carry so much spiritual knowledge in your back, yet you are still searching. He says to you to come and drink water from a fountain and you will never thirst again. Jesus shows so much Love for you.

Is that a vision or is that just how you convert and save those poor lost souls?

I was going to partake just to say live and let live, Christians have their teachings - and that's fine by me, as long as they aren't harming anyone else in the process (and let's face it, some of these Christian policies are questionable)

I like Pope Francis though.

Truly...THIS!

God acts only out of pure Love, which often leaves humans saying; " He has a funny way of showing it" however, people like to place human attributes on God, when He is totally beyond them.

It is very difficult for me to explain this...and I have tried to do so on many threads in the past few days...God does not care how you think...He cares how you feel and while it may not be right for a human to "murder" another, God is totally beyond such laws... basically, God can do whatever God likes because God is God.

Many cannot accept that and this is fine too..... but the ones who can;, who love The Lord unconditionally, despite anything He may/not do...who loves God for creating the whole universe...as well as causing supernovas to implode is very near and dear to Him...for death, destruction, annihilation, killing etc is all just a part of life...and at some point, the old must give way to the new.

Try thinking at a more "cosmic" level and you will understand the dance of Shiva.

Amazing! This explanation is amazing!

I would say that god is all holy, all LOVING & merciful
& I would say that because God is all LOVING, God can not be justice.

God gave free will to us to be used lovingly...& god coupled the free will law, with the law of "reap as one sows"....& this law works unto it self with out gods assistance, & rewards everyone for their deeds..loving or unloving...& because of this law God does not have to lift a finger to reward or deal justice upon any of us..."we" the Soul'self works in consonance with the laws, & not in consonance with God...& so God does not have to deal out justice..why: because God is "all loving only" & does not want to penalize/reward anyone for loving or unloving deeds. So he leaves it up to the laws to deal with the loving & or unloving.

The universe is a unit that works unto itself, with out gods assistance & is a self functioning system which rewards the loving & the unloving..the loving grow more radiant & abundant with every loving deed/thought, & the unloving grow darker/less radiant & less abundant with every unloving deed/thought.

To be a loving being, God is a merciful being, & dealing out justice is not a loving nor merciful thing to do.
But love, mercy & rehabilitation through salvation is a loving thing/way to do/be.

God has never been anything else but loving, & never has been a murderous being....Miss hepburn surely you would agree with that.

Neil

Hi

I feel like they are the same God but in the Old Testament he was much more angry because this was before Jesus so he had not experienced being a human yet. In the OT he was angry when people didn't listen to him and he didn't fully understand why so he handled how he saw fit at that time. Once Jesus came along he was able to understand first hand what it was like to be human so he became more compassionate and forgiving towards us, because, well, being human wasn't as simple as he originally thought.

That's just my opinion
