I think we have a 'preset' time to die, and that our guides will work very very hard to keep us alive until that time. If we could not die before our time, the guides would not have to do that. And we would have a significant number of people cheerfully walking into explosions and having friends shoot them in the head every weekend, since they would somehow not die the first times it happened. By significant I mean millions and millions of people.

Our heartbeats and our breaths are counted. When the last of each has completed our bodies die at the precise number that was determined before we incarnated.

As Sylvia Browne said, I do believe we have several signposts along the way and can go quicker or later if we choose.

It's like the example I always like to give: So here is this person who eats healthy, runs 2 miles a day, works out at the gym, belongs to a cycling club, etc. At the top of his/her health. And then gets hit by a truck and dies.

That person was doing all those healthy things because they enjoyed them. But to expect to live longer because of them is a joke.

Like I said, we shape our fate. So lets say 'God' decides that we are going to live a long life and pass away in our sleep. BUT one day when you are young you decide to drink and drive, wich causes an accident, wich caused a major wound, wich lets say becomes fatal. Do you think that would be predetermined? We have our own free will spiritually and physically, so if we make bad decisions or mistakes and it results to something that extreme does 'God' decide if we survive or not? Or is it just based on what happened in the now on this earth? People survive crazy things, and miracles happen all the time, but was it that 'God' had a bigger plan for you? Or is it that you had the will to survive? What if our deaths arent predetermined? What if our souls are trying to learn from our past lives, and didnt quite get it this time?
So many questions with so many questionable answers. I find it intruiging:)

After much deliberation I would say no.

The problem is the unnatural occurrence of this event, an accident. And the reason(s) why one person would live and another not can be explained. But if a person is hand picked to die by the source I would consider that as not being right. A moral issue for me.

Death is a programmed event and relates to DNA and a thing called telemores. Humans can affect their longevity. Natural death can even be changed. A person under stress is said to normally live a shorter life then individuals who aren't stressed. So like the above would god give us stress to.

Since individuals can control there own destiny's I say no. And in fact is this not one of the premises of spiritualism itself, our own influences and input into our own lives and abilities.

I'm in many minds regarding this. I believe most deaths are shockingly random and not pre organised before coming to earth. Isn't there some writings on ghosts, people who have died but don't realise they are dead because of the sheer spontaneity of the death/passing, it's such a surprise/shock that they think they are still alive. I would think that if a particular way of departure was preplanned than there should and would be no shock, there would be an immediate acceptance.

I also am under the thoughts that some people die by the law of attraction, Surfers getting bitten by sharks and dying, Paul Walker in Calif is a recent example of this (fast and furious indeed). I also don't believe in the saying, well at least they died doing what they loved, I doubt very much they were thinking that moments before impact, it's a question for the dead that one, no live person could know that, it's only said to make themselves feel better about the person passing on?

Death will always come by surprise, when you least expect it, there it is. Maybe if you are terminally ill, it won't come as a surprise, but for the rest, presto * time to move on.

I use to believe that my death was sorted out before I came here to earth, but now i think it was my way of trying to have more control over my self in all dimensions/worlds. My way of understanding and feeling at peace with the inevitable.
