Hi I'm Dan

Hi, looks like a great forum. I've always been very spiritual. I learn allot from various religions but have a reasonable grounded mind when it comes to believing everything you read in scriptures. So I was raised Christian and believe in God. I'm more into Buddhism right now as applying the teachings has helped me so much with practical every day living. I also love the Tao Te Ching and Bagavagida which bring me allot of amazement and peace. I am trying to live by the fundamental values that are the basis of all those practices: love, give, relax and keep to a positive ethical mindset and behavior. Not always easy, but I try to get through each day as best I can.

Not sure what you mean, but would be happy to help. PM me if you would like : )

I can be emotionally a mess with lots of anxiety but Buddhism and the idea of Karma has helped me to feel more confident and in control of my future.

Buddha teaches that unethical actions create bad karma and suffering. Good actions create happiness. In Christianity the unethical actions are called "sins". So Buddha actually helped me understand the bible, which is interesting. Buddha's Noble Eightfold Path and the 10 Commandments and other Christian values are very similar. I've spent allot of time studying religions this past year so I could find the common themes.

Pretty simple but I had not seen that allot of my past actions out of anger, ill will and arrogance caused problems that I still have lingering suffering from. I thought allot of bad things were good and good things were bad. So now I feel good that at least I know every day I need to do my best to love and give, which produces good karma. To be honest, it works and makes me feel good. Christ also taught love and give. So this is a common theme in many religions that I think is helpful for being more at peace.

Its kind of like I feel lost allot but I have a compass to point me somewhere, so that is what helps me feel grounded. Having a set of proven beliefs and actions to rely on, even when I feel like a train-wreck most of the time, is very helpful.
