What are guides?

Are guides just other people who are really enlightened. If so, what would cause them to find me and want to help me, specifically.

I don't have any guides so I do not know, but people who I think about talk to me in my head and try and tell me what I should do in terms of my thinking (you should be bashful, you should go away, stop talking, get "higher", etc.) Are these my guides?



I am so confused, I wish I knew more about this stuff. Sometimes it seems like everyone has the answers but me. Even though I know that's not true logically, I still feel like a loner because of this.

Thank you, that article was very enlightening. I think I will be trying some of those techniques soon.

I also feel comforted by the idea that a guide is a spirit and everyone has one from birth :)
