Breath ... Tim Winton
I read the book in two sittings, and it's an incredible masterpiece.
It is a life story and such a deep insight.
It's about every breath you take, the path of life.
I hope some of you have read it, If not, I commend it very highly indeed, it's simply fantabulous.
I loved it.

Correctamundo, I hardly ever read.
But I'm kinda obsessed with breath, and my mum insisted I give it a go, because there's a lot of surfing in it I guess.
Here's my short review.
Young men are drawn to risk taking and in the surf search for the monster wave, which is a lively healthy persuit, but this thrill seeking has a dark side which can lead the brave into dangerous even perverse behaviour, which almost inevitably happens.
The life of a man is silent and inner, manhood needs to be shown and proved and there's an very childish need to be approved of, accepted and craziest of all, adulated. This quiet desperation causes events to occur which leave their mark apon life and although they bring alot of wisdom, they also take alot away.

Hunting Down the Universe ~ Micheal Hawkins
It explains the missing mass, primordial black holes and other dark matter, and the fundamental flaws in cosmological constants and theory.

That singer know how to live the extreme so probably deeply and personally understood the dark side of the thrill.
I have done some sufing and understood the culture, and me, being an aussie rocker during the eighties, was quite deeply affected when Micheal Hutchence was found hanging by his neck form a doorknob, so the whole big waves and 'choke me baby' resonated with my life.
I thought it was brilliant how the personality of the boy, effected by his path, became the qualities in the man and how that character retained so deeply those subtle traits.
