Meditation detox
Can meditation cause the body to do it's own detox or cleanse?
In the past couple of weeks I've started to become more spiritually aware and have been meditating around three times a day. I have noticed I've been drinking water and urinating much more than normal, without the colour going clear.
It's especially bad when sleeping and I keep waking up thirsty. This used to happen occasionally but not to the extent it is now. Yesterday I meditated before bed and went through almost a litre of water during the night.
It isn't like I'm not drinking enough water either, I've gone through over 1.5 litres since I woke up three hours ago
Has anyone else had the same thing happen, or can shed any insight?

Are there any other symptoms besides dehydration? I'm just wondering if you aren't suffering from some medical complaint.

Thanks for replying. Nope, just a slight headache when I wake up that goes away when I drink some extra water.
I have been drinking more green tea lately, like one and sometimes two cups a day. This would explain a bit of extra urination but not why it stays coloured. I don't really want to test having less tea though because it has been helping my tmj.
Since it seems like this isn't a normal thing that happens from meditating I'll stay on the lookout for other symptoms. Maybe I'm just a bit weird o.O

Be careful you aren't over-hydrating, that is possible. Sip the water and bless it for your hydration.
Meditation can make you more conscious of your physical body and so it's not surprising but you might want to get checked out ?

Thanks Belle, I'm starting to think I may have a bit of a virus or something and for some reason I'm not getting the feeling of being sick, only some of the physical symptoms. I'm glad I've had some training and experience in dehydration, it's just a bit weird it's been happening for the last couple weeks I have been meditating

We can't diagnose your symptoms, you need to see a doctor for that. But meditation can produce body changes as you start to clear your body's energetic circuits.

Yes, I'll second this thought.
I have extensive experience with both meditation and energetic/spiritual healing processes (like Reiki, Reconnective, etc). These (meditation & healing) have some degree of overlap in their effects - and both can lead to internal physical cleansing and to adjustments of physiology.
