shooting star
I saw a shooting star tonight as I was on my way home from work tonight.
Needless to say, it was and felt so unbelievably beautiful.
Can anybody tell me the significance of seeing a shooting star? I've seen a bunch of them in my life, but it never felt like this one.

I spend a lot of time outdoors, esp. at night, so I usually spot a few of them on any given night. Though I enjoy seeing them all, it's usually the big flaming ones (the ones that actually make it through the atmosphere) that catch my attention. Even more when they explode! Those are the ones I rarely see. I got to see a few of those (only one of them exploded) this past summer though...

A Fireball is a sort of shooting star, only much more dramatic.
Brighter, slower, brilliant. It is a larger piece of meteor which has made it into the atmosphere.
We were heading home one night in the car, and one flew over us in the direction we were heading, West, and flew over and ahead of us as we watched in awe, amazed.
When we got home the phone rang.
It was the hospital in which my wife's Mom was in. They informed us that she had passed on.
