You seem to be confusing "Real" with "Permanent" and "Eternal".

I'm questioning what we mean by 'real'.

What do you mean by the word, Thought?

I was actually alluding to the idea that even the things we can negate are real. Just as the hand is part of the body. But if we remove a hand then the body is still the body. Just because you can remove a hand, or thoughts, doesn't mean that the hand was any less real, or thoughts were any less real.

If we remove everything until "nothing" is left. Then there is no more reference of comparison between real and not real. We need hot to define cold and visa versa. I suppose everything also needs nothing to define itself.

So, you are saying that the material and mental world of duality is all that's real?

Perhaps "Everything" is in complete Harmony with "Nothing" in a Yin Yang sort of Taoist Way. Yin & Yang are not Opposites as some are led to believe. Yin & Yang Compliment Each Other, they work together.

My position is that the body and all that comes with it is real. However I believe that once we die our consciousness, or soul if you will, moves on, this is also real. Just as the hand can be removed from the body, and the body remains a body. But prior to the amputation, the hand was part of the body. Our true self is extending itself into the physical realm. The body is the disposable hand of the self. It is apart of our true self, temporarily of course. But a genuine manifestation of the soul or consciousness or true self nonetheless.

"Everything" is the manifestation of "Nothing".

It's a real dead physical body. Isn't it?
