Oh how great it would be to 'merge' with the All. A 'place' of existence that is 'perfect', formless, where there is no change, decay or death. Just stillness and contentment. Maybe it could include unconditional love, acceptance and 'truth'. Sounds fun. But, I believe I'm already a 'part' of this all.

You did not say whether you would want to, assuming you have achieved that high a vibration.

I have asked this question because so many are concerned with achieving enlightenment, union with All That Is. It made me wonder whether they would merge with God/All That Is and need not come back ever again if given the opportunity tomorrow.

A Personal one from me? okay well.. no the only thing i want to find out about is ghosts/the paranormal and i strongly believe that if you gained this enlightement you would have the easy way out and there would be ground rules in place for contact with the living. where as currently as im living i have the chance to do so without breaking any of those rules "that im aware of"

For me that wouldnt go good, even in Death i will still be arround watching over the world, Thats kind of a dream of mine, Seeing how technology changes over the years and witnessing it in death, even though in death you may have a much higher understanding of it all, i believe this is my path in life/Death lol

Of course. But there is no tomorrow. And no merging.

Well, obviously not!!!!!!!

Today or tomorrow.

And I am extremely aware of that fact and have been since 1971.
It's not like I haven't had my chances!

The individual ego, I believe, takes years of taming or dissolving through
meditation and other techniques, in my opinion.

But, hey, I'm workin' on it everyday! Really.

Great topic.

Reminds me of Wayne Dyer's question - What keeps you from being the person you are and the person you want to be ---what is that gap?

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

I have asked because most people on SF talk about enlightenment, union with God/All That Is and I wondered whether they have also thought about how it would affect them and those they know.

(So do I.)

In Hinduism the goddess Shakti creates the world out of sheer delight; lila or divine comedy.

One NDExperiencer said that God/All That Is experiences through us.

Mellon Thomas Benedict experienced the same thing in his NDE: "So creation is God exploring God's Self through every way imaginable, in an ongoing, infinite exploration through every one of us. Through every piece of hair on your head, through every leaf on every tree, through every atom, God is exploring God's Self, the great "I am".

What happens if all souls merge with All That Is?

I believe it has all that and more.

Yes, you are already a part of this all but you do not know yet "when a leave falls."

I began to see that everything that is, is the Self, literally, your Self, my Self. Everything is the great Self. That is why God knows even when a leaf falls.

Some people say that we must learn all that planet Earth can teach us and that we then move on to a higher level, become gods in an ever upwards spiralling evolution of the soul.

Cayce said that once Earth has outlived its purpose, the soul takes flight to Sirius or the Polestar.

I have also read that before union with All That Is a person is given the choice to merge or help humanity.

I believe you, Miss Hepburn

There is a marvelous book about what happens after enlightenment that feels very genuine to me called The End of Your World by Adyashanti. What he describes shows how serious an endeavor enlightenment is - that it really is the end of your (the individual you know yourself to be) world. As he describes it is a process, for most the ego doesn't instantly evaporate after the first enlightenment experience but diminishes and deconstructs over time with periods of union inbetween. And about the personal question for me, it is one I've been very conflicted about all of my life ever since I understood the option. Part of me is profoundly drawn towards this merge and another part of me still wants to hold onto "me" and to make my story turn out okay. I go back and forth between these two poles. So I have never gotten to 100% yes, but I think one day I will.
