thanks everyone. i am currently living in the "city of trees" in california. I love seeing them go through their near silent humble cycles. I grew up on a small farm and practically lived off of their produce throughout my childhood. I was always nursing some back to health and have watched them grow from saplings to strong beautiful creatures. We had so many birds. There was too much for them to eat. they had their fill and so did we. they ate the fruit but also the bark beetles and grasshoppers who would harm the trees. We had plenty of frogs, bees, and ladybugs. the balance we had (and still have) with our land was truly grounding and the trees were the heart of it all from providing food in the warmer months and heat in the winter. Even hardwood from the fruit tree clippings for our meat rabbits to gnaw and a place for earwigs to nest for our roaming hens to discover and eat.
