Article: Disconnecting Consciousness from the External Environment
There was an article posted on 2/23 on DiscoverMagazine's website with the title in the subject of this post. I don't think I can link yet as I'm still fairly new here.
Basically they were doing brain surgery on some guy and played around with certain parts of the brain, producing very vivid dreams for him. It's an intriguing read! I'm not sure what I think about it exactly, I just thought it sounded like an interesting topic for this forum if anyone cares to look it up and talk about it. :) It makes me think about how in astral projection the idea is to move your consciousness from your physical body to your astral body. The title of this article jumped out at me with that in mind.

Very interesting. It also seems to be close to the pineal gland, which was known to be how we harness spirit in the ancients. It would make sense because there is a lot of constant distractions for the conscious to sift through. It would have to "tune out" to be able to pick up the subtle transference.
Consciousness would be like a pin point of incredible power, and in fact is an electrical process. Which can be limited while traversing the brain due to the size of its map, and the consciousness can only operate small areas at a time. With the pineal gland being our connection to the source (everything) and tiny, we can focus our conscious power into that channel with amazing results.
