icebluefaerie: If I had to describe it, it was a bit like the male and female symbols, but more like the male one, only the arrow was pointing in different directions with lines through it.

this is a sagittarius tattoo:
it points upper left, rather than upper right, as is normal for
that sign, and the male symbol.

Good thinking HORACE... I was trying to contemplate what symbols might resemble what the OP was describing in reference to the male/female symbol and nothing was coming to mind initially. The Celtic cross seems like a good candidate... Now we just need IceblueFaerie to return to her thread and update us, lol...
Found this (below) while searching for Coptic Cross and it may fit the OP's description:

Oops, sorry for delay. Thanks for everyone responding! Yeah! It was actually just what wolfgaze you posted similar to that cross. What do you know about that? I will have to google what I can on it.

The Coptic Cross is a symbol of Egyptian Christianity, where the inspiration of the design of the cross is a mixture between the Egyptian Ankh and the Christian Cross...The Egyptian Ankh represents eternal life, so it is rather fitting for Egyptian Christians to adapt the design based on the Egyptian Ankh...
