Meditation And How To Stop Your Thoughts.
Now, it is suggested that words, analyzation and thought activity relates to the left side of the brain. That if you have difficulty in stopping your thoughts, you can simply meditate, watching your breath go in and out and listening to the breath as it goes in and out, and in this manner you may stop the thought.
That as long as you’re focused on a sound, such as the sound of your breath moving in and out, thought does not particularly enter the mind or does not need to enter the mind. And that if you are having trouble contacting the right brain, simply start watching your breath, listening to the breath, and stop thinking words, and the right brain will begin to function at that time.
Practicing this on a daily basis through meditation ( which means total and complete focus) and then through continued meditation, even as you move around your home or do things, so that words are not going through the left brain, this can help you to experience more right brain activity, even in your mundane activities.
One must understand that the right brain does not think words or thoughts as does the left brain, so that you do not receive thoughts out of the right brain and therefore, you may think that it is not working when in fact it may be working quite well in the silence that it emits.

Taoist, I have yet to try meditation though it's been on my mind as of recently. Thank you for sharing this post. I found it very helpful. :)

Hello, Taoist.
I am practicing aware meditation, where you are watching your thoughts and not trying to stop or be involved with them, but I have noticed that when I just sit down and relax concentrate my mind, I have no thoughts, only inner dialogue which was related only in such questions: "Am I doing it correct?, Is it some high level of meditation? and so on." and then I tried to stop also a inner dialogue and after some minutes of meditation I felt that I am going into some space like dream or smthing.. Was it a trance? or just a Sleep?

Hi 8iConscious,
Whilst we wait for The Taoist to return to his original thread, I would offer that this is par for the course. A good piece of advice I received early on was "Don't judge the sit. The sitting itself is doing the work, even if you don't realize it".
Rome wasn't built in a day.
Persistence is beneficial.

Don't think I've ever tried consciously listening to the breath before, I might give that a try.

Ok!
Well, I read the first sentence of the op...something about the
left brain or something..sorry, then I stopped...
Look...meditating is like laying with your lover....the first week...
Remember?....
This is how complicated meditation is...being with
the most exquisite love of your life.
Sit...absorb the love that is all around you...
very similar to a fish surrounded by water.
It is that simple.
Sigh, do not watch your thoughts...do you want your lover to be watching their thoughts
as you make love to them?
Feeeeeel....open....accept....the love that is all around you and for you...there...
for You.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru.

Lol, I have never thought of meditation as such a passionate act, but definitely relatable. I like the perspective.
I think my process is similar though, I just relate it to cloud watching. Thoughts are like clouds in this expansive space of the mind. When shifting attention away from the clouds, and to the space, the clouds/thoughts, get pushed to the back(non-focus), they occur, but "you" aren't involved. So non-involvement, nor self-identification(non-self). Then it gets really, really, fun.
The sun would be akin to that radiant inner sun, which can illuminate all within (and without). Once you stop grabbing clouds, and calm your inner sky, the sun will shine forth(since it was always there anyway).
But I like simple stuff.
