Help please
I am trying to stop thinking about something. It is not unpleasant, but right now it is counter productive. Any suggested affirmations or techniques would be greatly appreciated. It seems I'm stuck in a loop! :)

Maybe try focusing on something else.....perhaps a hobby or something?

I've used NLP in situations like this.
Imagine an image of what you don't want to think about. Make it big and bright and vivid. For example if its a person, imagine their face vividly in full technicolor and with a big smile. Then, in your visualization imagine that picture moving away from you - becoming smaller and smaller. As it moves away change it to black and white and allow a sad face to replace that big annoying smile. Play some silly music in your head when the picture is black and white. It loses importance and the hold loosens.
Try it a few times and you'll realize it's just not important any more.
Good luck
Blessings!

I often allow myself a period of thinking of something that I want to cut out of my life - say 10 mins a day - I will focus on that issue and that will give the issue the airspace in my life as that is all I'm prepared to give it. Any stray thoughts will have to wait until allotted time - and as said I move my thinking to something else.
I soon find that I don't need to think about the issue - or want to - and the stray thoughts become pretty mild. It's about saying "I decide when bugging issue has the voice".

Belle, I think this sounds like the solution for me. My thoughts consistently go to something I know is coming. While I am looking forward to that time- I need to focus on the here and now. It has been a challenge. I think that by allotting it a little space, it will be easier to not be distracted the rest of my day. thank you so very much. :)
