God gives life, and God takes it away....

That's a good verse.
My neighbor cut down 2 trees - she said she and her husband planted them
20 yrs ago---they could do anything they wanted (and on their own prop).
Sounds almost the same to me. Logical.

My thoughts would be - God does not want his children to have such bad
or angry thoughts that would make them kill.
He would want us to be happy like He wanted us to be.
Cain killing Abel was a sad day for Him.

How else could god exist without you creating the idea of a god from your imagination even if imposed on by others.

well change that to 'means to a beginning' and it would be closer but so was your comment about the eternal I imagine so lol!
but there is also the idea that villifying death of the body has a use like any other tool I guess...

on the other hand if I remember correctly cain's punishment was that he could do absolutely anything he wanted and noone would lay a finger on him.... which was still just way too much to bear...
as far as happiness genesis talks of god making curses for the male and female early on, and then there is the whole thing about keeping us out of eden specifically so that we could not eat of the fruit of the tree of life. none of which seems like something he would do if there weren't something more important than 'happiness' at stake... and then of course there was the whole thing about the 'man of sorrows' which what was creating that mess all about if happiness for people is the highest goal?
And what was going on with God being so mad in the old testament? Doesn't he know we like to follow examples given?

Not the act itself in isolation but the intent ...
One soldier in war killing another in war ... ok
One animal killing another for food because it is so constituted ... ok
Killing for revenge, driven by hatred or lust or in anger even ... not ok

So true...it really is about the intent. We don't even realise fully.
Even killing in war is about intent...if done without malice as you say, that is the unfortunately and predictable outcome of participating in battle. You will kill and you may be killed.
Yet, even as a soldier, if you do not follow rules of engagement (if you torture, if you order unnecessary execution or if you enact unnecessary killing, if you intentionally kill civilians, if you indulge in killing, torture, or violence because you enjoy it or because it makes you feel powerful or in control)...then this is also "not ok".
What folks may not realise is that these killings motivated by emotion will follow us down through the ages, across lifetimes, till they &/or we reach out to make it right. You're never rid of that which you've sowed, till you consciously own it and work to make it right with that other soul, often in some other seemingly far-removed lifetime.
Peace & blessings

Soldiers are effectively treated as tools that are out to destroy other tools. Both signed up for it, with the potential outcome of participating in a war. Others may be forced into it. Needless to say, on the battlefield you either kill or be killed. Or, sometimes you capture your enemy, but then those are usually given a worse fate. But you can't be a pacifist as a soldier.
