Lightbulb What's your go-to spread?

When I started, I think I took the the Celtic Cross (and its variations) the most. I loved how complex and complete it felt.

More often than not though, I do a simple 3 card with floating position meanings as necessary. I've read books on spreads and made my own and used a bunch, but I"m interested in what other reads have to say.

I actually have 2 questions:

What's your favorite spread to use? (if you feel inclined, why that one?)

What's your go-to spread for "why" questions?

My all-time favourite spread is the Celtic Cross. You can get so much information from it.

Even for 'why' questions I'll use the Celtic Cross.

I do readings online; I go to facade.com and choose the "Choose for Me" option for the spread, so that one is randomly chosen. (Other times I choose the One Card spread. I like the Three Fates too.)

I also stick to the simple three-card spreads, usually Situation/Need to Know/Advice (easily tweaked to 'Answer/What you also need to know/advice'). From here I can add additional cards if required (eg for clarification, if I want to know what area of life the card refers to etc).

I try to keep my spreads simple as I lose clarity of the message otherwise; if it's a complex question I'll often do multiple spreads with very targeted questions.

On here, I try to tailor the spread to the question without drawing too many cards (I'll happily clarify if asked)

In face 2 face client readings, especially when a client just wants 'a general' reading, I either use the dyadic cross then go further in to specific areas that they want more info on or the OOTK to find which area is of the greatest concern then take it from there.

For myself, I freestyle (I'm such a rebel ).

I'm really enjoying hearing what everyone does. Pisces_moon, do you use spreads you've created for the tailoring or do you do with some of the widely-used one. Lately, I've felt comfortable enough to decide what a position will mean and be consistent. But I'm strangely resistant these days to the really elaborate spreads. There's uh...always the possibility that I'm just feeling lazy.

Noooo, it's not laziness, it's 'time constraints' lol.

Sometimes I create my own spreads, other times I search online for suitable ones and tweak them if necessary, but I always link it or credit it if I do.
For me, it depends on time and brain. It can be draining enough to do readings , doubly so when having to word and plan out spreads.

Creating spreads is fun, but as mentioned above, it takes a lot of time and effort

Celtic Cross.

A nod to my Irish-Scots roots.
