Smile Happy Samhain (2015)

Hello

Samhain is around the corner, just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful Hallows' Eve. Be safe! I might use this time for connecting with my spiritual path.

Samhain is/was celebrated as a day of the dead - those who had gone on the year before. It was said to be the time when the doors of the Underworld stood open and the spirits of the ancestors could be contacted for guidance. A feast was held following the slaughter of surplus livestock before the winter and the feast consisted of those parts of the beasts that could not be preserved. A place was set out for the Spirits to partake of the feast.
I celebrate in the "old ways" with "Striding the Hedge". This year I plan the ritual in a "place between places" [ cliff edge facing the dawn and the North Sea ] and a "time between times" [ between night and day ]. There are ceremonies being held all over the north at ancient sites but I prefer the Solitary Way of a Cunning Man.

Hello norseman;

That's wonderful! I personally would like to get involve with others in a public ritual or ceremony - that would be a great experience. For now, I was thinking of lighting a candle for those who passed away from my family (including my pet) and, meditate. I missed those days when I was able to see parts of the future as soon as I shut my eyes. I always meditated, focused, and worked on a psi-wheel. I am looking forward to getting my clairvoyance back. Thanks for sharing.

Blessed Samhain everyone! I usually set up an altar, carved pumpkins, make a big dinner and cast a spell or 2, but this twitchy is in bed with the flu this year!! I think I'll use this time to reflect on the past year and see what I can do differently/better in the coming year :).

I know the feeling, last year on Samhain was very cold and rainy with a mix of hail. Today, it started raining in the morning and hasn't stopped - definitely staying indoors and not catch a cold. Yesterday, it was very warm and quite sunny. The weather is sure full of surprises. Hope you feel better soon. Happy Samhain everyone!
