Oh, I love bamboo. My son and I visited the botanical garden in Birmingham, UK and went inside a small bamboo forest, It was delightfully cool inside!
We peeked in the palate garden and saw spinach, Swiss chard and Chives! I am so excited!!!

I probably got about 6 different varieties of bamboo.
Out in front I had some giant, thornless, prickly pear cactus. I wanted them to get a little bigger so I could try merging two of the cactus together with each other so as to form a canopy so we could sit underneath them. Nature decided something else. We had a rain spell and the cactus swelled up. Then it froze. Many of the limbs fell off. Major pruning job! Sounded tragic, but I replanted a lot of the limbs. Now we have more cactus.

Lakes this size takes years to recede.

ENJOY THE MOMENT
For about 8-10 years, I spent virtually everyday on the river. I was fascinated watching the tide come in as I watched coconuts float upstream all on their own.

We also have the largest gem and mineral shows in the World. About 60-65 events occurring over a 1 months span.

The shows specialize in such things as crystals, rocks, minerals, gemstones, etc. You will find also beads, jewelry, singing bowls, etc. For me, it is one big play ground.
I have been going to these shows for over 25 years and still have never got to see all of the shows.

I should get some pictures tomorrow. Lake Michigan "the lake" ate a lot of homes last year. When good storms go through it turns into big monster. The waves are different than ocean waves. The waves in the great lakes happen in rapid ression, vs ocean "normal ression" that's like a .22 machine gun vs .45 revolver But you're right, enjoy the moment. I'll get pictures tomorrow.

If you look hard, you will find Amethyst worth over 1 million dollars and you will find some pieces worth less then 10 cents.
What gemstones and crystals did you deal with?

I used to live one time along one of the Great Lakes. Back then, I used to run the shoreline bare foot.

what lake? Where I am we have nice Sandy beaches and lake made sand dunes. Some plants too that only grow in the small microclimate the lake itself creates. Here you can sit on the beach for hrs and not see anyone. If you do there looking for morel mushrooms or walking a dog. Also some sand dunes. And green! I miss seeing green. It's actually starting to get to me
