Landescape Dreaming
At this stage, 1991-92, I felt cooped-up in my bachelor's rental unit. It had steel bars on the windows. Had little money, no car, and lived in the middle of the city of Sydney – no escape, it seemed.
From these low feelings came the following painting.

Here are two idea sketches, and the final painting.

Love what you're doing here. It seems we approach the creative process in a similar fashion as well. :)

Hello Gracey.
If a painting suggests a feeling in someone, regardless of what it is, it is a complement to the artist. For that alone I say thank you. Lol.

Hello MorpHnStorM.
Thanks for your kind words.
In regard to similar approach, are you referring to pre-planning, painting sections one at a time, or both? I am keen to learn what you do.
However, it is comforting to get conformation of my art and approach, from a fine realist artist as yourself. Thank you.

Mainly Manly
I decided to do a beach scene, my second attempt at a seascape.
I used up two rolls of film of Manly Beach, Sydney.
Painted the scene at home.
I put most of the features of the location into the painting.
One of the reasons for doing the beach scene was to get better at seascapes, and painting figures - a weakness of mine, and still is.
I remember painting all these figures, 68 of them, and the beach still looked empty. But that was as far as I went.
Because of the lack of figures, I decided to call the painting, "Mainly Manly"
