Help identify this stone / crystal please?
Hi all,
Could you please help me identify this stone / crystal please?
Years ago this came from my sister's former father-in-law. He was very into spirituality - did some healing I believe and was also a minister. At the time I knew him, I knew nothing about any of these things. No one in his family, nor mine talked about such things. He passed on long before I became aware of my own spiritual interests. It would be nice to know him now that I'm becoming more aware. When I bought this from him, he said it would be beneficial for bringing peace and calm. He must have told me what it was, but I can not remember now. Can you help?
The larger portion of the stone is a light lavender color over all which sparkles in the light if you catch the right angle. There are beautiful dark pink, or hot pink inclusions (right word?). There are also a few black splotches on the stone.
The hot pink inclusions remind me of rose quartz - but isn't rose quartz lighter? Could Amethyst look hot pink like that? Something else?
What is the lavender colored part? It isn't transparent at all - and it has a a whole lot of sparkle if you twist it in the light.
Thoughts please?
(I'm dying to show off pics of my amethyst - but will save that for a separate post so as not to confuse things here. It is asking for equal time being shown. I've had them for years, but am just awakening to what I have. I've just done cleansings on both and they seem pleased. I'm just beginning to know them.)

Oh! I'm excited now. While trying to research another type of crystal, I found out there is a dark pink tourmaline. Could those dark pink crystal pieces be tourmaline? (Still no idea on the lavender colored sparkly rock though.)

Definately has pink tourmaline.
Am wondering about the pink stone that has the tourmaline around it. Rubellite?

Thank you, NightSpirit, Sira. Thank you, Topaz! Pink Tourmaline Rubellite - I will be googling for sure now. I do feel so lucky to have both of these beautiful pieces that I've posted about now.
Topaz - that picture is so similar to my piece. Where did you find it?
Also - is there any way of knowing what the lavender colored rock is that the tourmaline is embedded in? Or is it just the natural thing that tourmaline is found within?
I feel very blessed.

I found the picture on google images and yes the lavender rock is a natural thing . A bit like my Staturolite cross which is surrounded by blue sand :)

This site has a similar stone - and they call the surrounding lavender colored stone: quartz with mica. I know there are tons of different types of quartz and tons of different micas - but maybe this helps narrow it down. Do you think I can find out which type of quartz?
It's funny how I feel like I'm being guided to answers since I posted the pics.
I feel like a little kid at Christmas time.
