My physical illness started with spiritual illness, then it progressed to mental, then physical. It started with me not being spiritually grounded which led to me becoming ungrounded mentally, and then physically. I went to every doctor I could and they all said I was healthy but I was on the road to dying from health issues. Thankfully I figured out the problem before it was too late and now my health is better than it's ever been.

IMO grounding can only mean one thing, connection to the physical. How could one thought ground in another thought? One needs to ground in what is the base or foundation for what one is working on. Spirituality needs to be grounded in the mental-intellectual and that in turn needs to be grounded in the physical. Unless one does that, all the way not just part, problems can develop and filter down. Your own story attests to that.

Physically grounding just is not going to be enough to keep your subtle bodies grounded properly. To each their own though.

Yes but -it's two-way traffic.
While alive, we have an intimate connection to the Earth forces. Earth forces come "up" through us, Spiritual forces come "down" through us. They meet in the middle. Vertical polarity. A continual circuit.
Then our creativeness is the horizontal polarity (what goes out from us) which forms an energetic axis. This forms a cross, energetically-speaking. (but not precisely a "cross"...more of a circuit)
We can't really do without any aspect of these axial forces.

Physical grounding is very important you are right and without having it, it becomes difficult to even focus on the mental and spiritual aspects. But it's our mental aspect that remains with us, not our physical. This is why in my opinion mental and spiritual grounding are more important. They might not be as possible without the physical grounding aspect but they are perpetual. This physical body comes and goes but our mental and spiritual aspects of our being remain with us for eternity.
