Hear the bleep sound of chat having left it

Hi - can anyone explain why, having left chat room, I am still hearing the bleep sound i.e. when someone types something? I even tried closing down the browser and returning to SF (not the chat room) and STILL am hearing the bleep sound now.

Something I noticed before this occurred is that, whilst in chat, the bleep sound went off even when there was nothing being typed! This has never occurred before. It felt odd...like there was a duplicate room or somehow something got doubled up?

Weirder still - I adjusted the settings to "sound off" and it STILL makes the sound! I am not on anything .... I'd say I was of sound mind except that this sucks right now!!!

Is there technical problems with chat?

PROBLEM SOLVED - when I went to shut down the computer, I saw a small chat room came up (with a past dialogue window). Still not sure why this occurred in the first place though. Anyhow, sorry....maybe this info will help another person in a similar predicament.
