Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

Psalm 82:6
The Hebrew word translated 'gods' in Psalm 82:6 is elohim, and the Hebrew word elohim is also translated “judges” in Exodus 21:6 and 22:8, 9, and 28.

The “gods” of Psalm 82 are human magistrates, judges, and rulers who have been granted authority on earth but earthly judges must act with impartiality and true justice because earthly judges must one day stand before the Judge, (elohim).
Elohim is the God of justice...

Just my opinion...

So since Jesus was talking to 'people' - he could have been saying you are judges, rulers - you have 'authority on earth'.

Elohim is the God of justice...

In Genesis Chapter 1, God [Elohim] is mentioned in each verse. This is the first creation account. In this case, God [Elohim] is considered in this creation account to be a 'Creator' or at least the 'one' that brought about creation.

Exodus 6:2-3 says "God [Elohim]also said to Moses, “I am the Lord [Yahweh]. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God [Elohim] Almighty, but by my name the Lord [Yahweh] I did not make myself fully known to them."

This implies to me that God [Elohim] includes Yahweh.

In Exodus 3:14 it reads "God [Elohim] said to Moses, “I AM who I AM." This verse implies to me that God [God] probably includes everything, even you and me. To me, this resonates nicely with Animism which some say is the basis of virtually all religions if not all of them (Spirit is in everything).

Being that it appears God and other words expressing Elohim and LORD [Yahweh] are the two most common words used in the Bible, it amazes me that they are commonly found in the Hebrew Bible which ironically seem to have been used as the core in each translation of the Old Testament in the respective Bibles.

This is what Jesus said as written in John 10:34-36. It reads:

"Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods [Elohim]”’? If he called them ‘gods [Elohim],’ to whom the word of God [Elohim]came—and Scripture cannot be set aside— what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s [Elohim's]Son’?

In verse 34, he quotes Psalms 82:6, the scripture in question.

I think His words/statement ' you are gods' was directed to those to whom the word of God came'. If we look at,

John 10:34-36 (ESV)
34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said, you are gods’? 35 If he called them gods to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be broken— 36 do you say of him whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?

Yes I think so. He was speaking to the Jewish Lawmakers who'd recieved 'The word of God'... Mybe He was warning them not to abuse the power of office they held as they will also be judged..

A Psalm of Asaph. "God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods."
