Malham is one of my favorites, Kinder scout and downfall als great , I will be visiting them sometime shortly.
It is also worth going up there in winter if you are brave enough

That is a beautiful place to live, Podshell. I am many miles away now but remember Edale....Kinder Scout....and a number of places along the way.
It would be nice coming home to Edale facing the setting sun.
In my opinion this thread absolutely belongs here. Walking even some of that trail, reminds a person they are in the great Cathedral of Nature.

It is worth taking a guide book too, I used a.a.wainright's guide , it gives a brief history too of some of the places you pass.

Also good up on the pennines is visiting the plane wrecks from WW2 , the person who took us knew the stories behind the individual crashes. I have photos somewhere of us among the wreckage of a flying fortress.
We came across one on another trip when we took a wrong route , it was embedded in a valley side, ithe part exposed was corrugated metal.
I have also found interesting stuff up there such as the odd coin , an antique silver button or broach, a bullet casing from the war.
