Doubts about manifesting - help me out!

Hi all! Recently I have become interested in the possibility of manifesting and want to try it out. However, I am getting a kind of backlash from my rational mind which says "this can't possibly be real." As I detailed in another thread, this is probably past messages from my father (who's a die-hard rationalist) and as such, they can be pretty entrenched.

I know that manifesting depends on faith/belief etc, but I'm not able to believe as much as I'd like to (due to aforementioned backlash) so I generally just cultivate a "let's see" attitude. So far I'm not sure I've been able to manifest anything...sometimes it seems like it and sometimes not (and my rational mind is quick to label the "not like it" as "just coincidences)

Any ideas on getting further into it?

just live your life and stop worrying about things, do what makes you happy, manifestation wil take care of it self.

we constantly manifest things every day, you cant stop it, its like gravity. So just do what you want. If knowing that manifestation can bring you miracle type situations, then dream big.

ill give you one way of looking at it, everyone in life has a roadmap of where they want to go and what they want to do, you simply plot your course and autopilot will take you there. you do actually have to go out and live as if your going in the direction you want to go in, you cant just sit on the couch and expect some guy to walk into your house and give you your dream job.

Actually manifesting stuff...?...you don't need any faith...
Haha, example...be negative to the max...you will manifest such
negativity around you your health could go downhill, that is,
after you get fired and crash your car and your partner leaves you....

How to get further into it?
Read and listen to everything you can 24/7 on LOA.
You probably know about Abraham-Hicks...they are so easy to understand
and are so prolific...they should be easy.

Hi Rianthe, I host a small manifestation group. One of the suggestions that we give others who are finding it difficult to change their negative/rational thought patterns to be more positive or hopeful is as follows: Buy some nice cologne/perfume. Not just good smelling, but something that costs a little (or a lot) more than you would normally purchase, so that you know it was a luxury purchase. Wear the cologne/perfume every day. Every time you get a whiff of yourself, repeat to yourself, "My thoughts are as rich and wonderful as my cologne/perfume." It creates a starting point in changing thought patterns that have been life-long. I hope this helps!

Try to manifest something small and simple. To me my first attempt was to manifest a parking spot on a saturday night in the clubs area of my city (usually hard to find). It worked and I was like WOW!

Also another time I wanted to manifest a pizza, just to see if it worked. I was spending days alone, but as soon as I met a friend the first thing that he said to me was: "I'm hungry, what about eating some pizza?"

:)

I love this post...yup, I do think that is how it starts!

Ok, maybe I'll try it on small things first, that does sound like a good place to start!

Oh yeah, one thing about manifesting that I don't feel teachers mention enough...how does deal with negativity? Especially persistent negativity resulting from inherent beliefs, some quite deep-seated. Usually the answer is "just don't be negative" but that's not always possible.

To which then the reply could be "well you think it's not possible because you think it is not possible"...and it goes on from there. You know what I mean. :)

Also, what happens when negative events happen and you were quite sure that you weren't negative at all?

I know the LoA and manifesting isn't supposed to explain everything or cover all bases, but I do think that books/teachers could deal with the negative side of things more, in order to better understand the positive. After all, both sides do exist.
