Why do you scry?

So.. I have never tried it before, and I am planning to get a crystal ball. I am interested in the energetic crystal healing aspect of the crystal ball itself, as a crystal, but figured why not get more value out of it and try scrying too right

My question is, if its not too personal, what do you scry for, and what do you feel you gain from it? Do you just scry and accept any information? Is it a way to look into your deep subconscious? Do you get messages from angels and the divine? To look for answers for problems? Or is it simply to get a heads up on what might happen in the future?

1) Forced to look into an ink bowl at age 13 by my mother who was into witchcraft.

2) The vision showed a single picture spanning my life from age 7-57.

So its possible to get a very general picture that can sum up entire lives.

Forced? But you still do it now, and of your own free will right? And to have seen something even back then seems to imply that even if unwilling, images can still surface?

No i don't do it now.

At the time, my thoughts were 'oh no, now what. One minute its tarot cards and now its looking into a bowl filled with water and black ink'.

But i went ahead with it, just to keep her happy and classed it is a pile of sht at the time.

Little did i know, it was all true.

I don't use any tools, I just close my eyes and ask a question, and images come to me. I only ever do it when I want to help someone, by passing on a hint or a warning. I never try to gain anything for myself beyond perhaps a bit of practice. It's some time now since I quit searching for answers to anything.

I see :) thanks! I do feel weary of looking for answers from the ball though, least i get too reliant on it.

Don't do it for a reason or answer. Just do it and be receptive to what happens. Then, after doing the scry, you can look for the meaning. Btw, you can scry with anything, crystal ball, bowl of liquid, a tree, some kinda painting or pattern, etc.
