Healing Dance

What’s your experience with healing dance? . . . my relationship with dance joy didnt always come easy . . . blissful moments on a dance floor interrupted by all sorts of distractions, men assuming I was there to dance with them, or my own self-critic watching and inhibiting . . . . . I spent years not dancing, unaware of the amazing options for engaging the body in deep healing ways in safe environments . . . Nia, Five Rhythms, Trance Dance, etc. . . . I was never able to connect with yoga for some reason . . . I like moving to rhythm and music and making noise sometimes . . . . . when I discovered Nia, my whole world and my relationship with my body really began to shift . . . I gradually learned how to listen and trust my own flow . . . and really Move from my spirit . . . allowing my body to process energy and trauma and Life according to its own unique wisdom . . . I still struggle sometimes, getting out of my head and trusting my body to know what it needs . . . . . over the past decade or so, Ive explored all different sorts of healing dance and movement forms . . . most recently, Ive experienced a whole bunch of healing through my Ecstatic Dance practice . . . . .

Hi Emily Duck

I have always found music to be very therapeutic, really it's healing and the rhythm of music and sound is so inviting to the soul.

I had dance classes at least 3 to 4 days a week and it was very therapeutic while I was going through a very challenging period in my personal life.

I don't connect very well to Yoga either, but their are classes that incorporate music and electronic music, especially if your more into the intricate/physical type yoga styles like Ashtanga, I always put deep house electronic music.

so much emotional stuff gets stored in the body . . . and somehow a good dance beat just seems to pound it out sometimes . . . . .

Yoga with EDM could be really interesting . . . I might have to reconsider . . . . .

I'll have to read up on Osho . . . thanks for that!
