The Eagle

The Eagle

He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ringed with the azure world, he stands.

The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.

Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892)

Majestic!
It looks like something out of a Sinbad movie. Mythical-like captured in that pose!

They are incredibly powerful looking birds.

I'm not sure I've ever seen one in real life. A few years ago I visited a Red Kite feeding station near Wales (in the UK) and other birds of prey were there for the free grub. I couldn't believe how big some of them were...but I think they may have been buzzards rather than eagles. So there's half a story for you...

We took my grandson to the local dinosaur museum last month and there was a woman there showing her birds of prey on that very day.
She had a golden eagle! I have never seen one live but she was really funny comparing the bald eagle to the golden eagle.
She has had this bird for 32 years so she was very biased........lol
Beautiful.........

Hiya James

32 years! Wow that's a good age for a bird. Did you or your grandson get to feed/stroke it...or is that not the done thing?

Having just looked up Golden Eagles & Bald Eagles, I can categorically state I've never seen a Bald Eagle in real life - seeing as they are only found in North America.

It looks like the Golden Eagle is a resident of Scotland.

So I'm thinking I've never actually seen any kind of eagle. They must have been buzzards.

No we couldn't go near it. I think they are found on the west coast here as well and the bald eagles are on the east coast.
We can see them here by the rivers when the ice begins to melt but you have to go to them otherwise you never see them.
