Science is Now, "the Handmaden", of Faith
The thread title is a statement made near the end of the documentary movie, "Eyewitness to Jesus". Produced in 1998.
"Science is now the handmaiden of Faith, rather than it's enemy."
Those who are the disaffected towards the Gospels as being factual, like to bring up dating of the actual writings.
Claiming that they were made some time after the actual occurances involving the Lord, and questioning whether they can be attributed to the followers of Jesus as ascribed, or to others who wrote them much later on.
In the below linked eleven minute video, you will observe how modern "Forensics Investigation" brings out how the apostles of the Gospels gave firsthand accounts of what they witnessed.
http://coldcasechristianity.com/2013/are-the-gospels-eyewitness-accounts/
On the above webpage also is a twenty four minute documentary video about St. Marks Gospel.
Christ Church at Oxford, in the snow.
There is now this documentary movie as well, - "An Eyewitness To Jesus", about how a certain minister, ("Teeday") at Oxford, brings out how another former Oxford theologian, trained and taught at Wycliff Seminary, a Reverend Charles B. Huleatt, had in the early 20th century found some papyrus parchments.
Referred to as, "The Jesus Papyrus", and, "Magdalen Papyrus".
(Not to be confused with the forged "Jesus Wife" Pyparus).
...Written by Mathew, (and also one by Mark), which have been dated to around 50 A.D., using both modern dating techniques, and stylized print assessment on them.
50 A.D., Well within the range of a time span of an eyewitness, who wrote down what he heard and experienced.
----------------
"The Most Sensational Evidence of the Origins of the Gospels since the Discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls."
Brought up was how Mathew, being formerly a collector of taxes would have been familiar with the shorthand of the day, and wrote down what he heard and observed of Jesus, as they occurred, first hand
From the Book summary at Amazon -
"Now readers have authoritative answers to these pivotal questions, in a book written by Thiede himself and by Times of London journalist Matthew d'Ancona, who originally broke the story to the public.
Indeed, the Magdalen Papyrus corroborates three traditions:
Saint Matthew actually wrote the Gospel bearing his name; he wrote it within a generation of Jesus' death;
and the Gospel stories about Jesus are true."

Discovery unfortunately removed the movie from YouTube, so, you will have to view it on Netflix, or other similar format, or, purchase the dvd from Amazon or other retailers.

Welcome, rodan.
Essenes Archaeological Remains.
"Christmas Eve 1994 would have come and gone like any other, had it not been for three tiny papyrus fragments discussed in The Times of London's sensational front-page story. The avalanche of letters to the editor jarred the world into realizing that Matthew d'Ancona's story was as big as the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls."

In the video, it is related how Chaplain Huleatt passed from this world in an Earthquake destruction of a Hotel, and, that it is not known if he had aquired more evidence involved with the origins and dating of St. Mathews, and St. Marks Gospels.
Also, how he considered himself a failure, as he had written prior in a letter to his wife, regarding his perspective on not having acomplished anything of value.
How wrong he was!
The story relates how, after discovering these artifacts, he had sent the papyrus parchments to Oxford for analysis, at the outset of the 20th century, where an archaeologist had mistakenly dated them to around 300- 400 A.D. .
Where, then, they were left displayed at the back of the College library.
They remained in a display case until the mid 1990's, when rediscovered, and subjected to modern Laser Scan techniques for dating, and the reasessment of unique stylized writing of a certain period, as compared with other written artifacts, found.

So, I've posted links to this thread several times now, though certain who are disaffected towards all of this fail to acknowledge.
Meanwhile, Happy Easter, and God Bless.

And so.. as we can see, the Gospel of Mathew and Mark are determined to be written within a generation of Christ's life and His ministry to Israel, and to the whole world.
